17 Weeks!!!

This week Baylor is about 4-3/4 inches long and weighs about 4-1/2 ounces. Now that the body parts are in place, his body is starting to "fill out" as he develops fat tissue. Bones continue to harden slowly, and joints are becoming more functional.

Now that the ears are positioned appropriately on the sides of the head, his hearing develops. Also starting now, his umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger (eventually it will be so tough, it'll take real effort to cut the cord after birth).

I'm 17 weeks and Jonathan and I can really start to see a difference in my "baby bump." My nausea is still getting better by the day. The worst thing I've been dealing with for the last 2 weeks is a bladder infection. I just finished my 2nd week of antibiotics and praying it's gone for good. I also caught something from my nephew, Riley last week and this week felt pretty bad. Other than that I guess I feel as normal as I can.

I am going up to Birmingham Monday with my mom. My appt. is at 1:40 at UAB. I will be having a targeted ultrasound which is just a really detailed look at the baby. I will then meet with one of their doctor's. Please say a little prayer for us that Baylor is a healthy little boy. I will update that evening if I'm not to tired.

I'm about to go try and cool off. It is WAY to hot these days....

Jonathan's 1st Father's Day!

Father's day this year was very bittersweet. It was my first Father's Day without my dad and Jonathan's 1st Father's (To-Be) Day. We stayed in town and went out to the cemetary to visit my sister and my dad. Then we went over to my mom's house. Tab, Meribeth, and the boys were over there. I just sat around enjoyed time with them. I wanted to do something simple, but something special, Jonathan would remember for his first Father's Day. I decided to get him Dr. Seuss, Hop on "POP". I can't wait until Baylor is here so Jonathan can read it to him.

Instead of the day being all sad, Jonathan and I decided to go register at Storkland. We we're there for about 2 1/2 hours and we still didn't finish. We don't have a lot left to do. We are excited because they now carry the brand of stroller and highchair that we had decided on, Chicco. I must say it was pretty tiring, but it was a lot of fun!

Our Beautiful View!

I'm so sad to be home from the beach we had a great time. We stayed in Destin last Monday thru Thursday and the weather was PERFECT the whole time! We got lots of sun, which was what I needed. We had dinner at all our favorite spots, The Back Porch, AJ's, The Great Southern (in Seaside), and lunch at Fudpucker's our last day. We spent everyday on the beach or in the pool. It was so nice. Jonathan and I even picked up some outfits for Baylor. Including his 1st Seaside T-Shirt. Jonathan and I know he will love Seaside as much we do. I still think it is so much fun to call him by his name. Even though all of our family and close friends have known what his name was going to be for a while.

I'm about to post to some pictures. Enjoy!

16 Weeks!!!

Yesterday I was 4 months pregnant! I still can't believe how fast this pregnancy seems to be going. I'm starting to get a little "Bump" and I think I felt Baylor move last night! I was so excited. I had been laying in bed for about 10 minutes when I felt this swoosh under my belly button go by. It felt like a little wave. I waited a few seconds and nothing so I started to shake my lower belly to try and get something else and a few seconds later it happened again. That was all I got, but it was AMAZING! I was told I would start to feel him very soon, but I just never expected this soon. After I get done typing this blog I'm going to bed and hoping to feel him some more.

My journal says, the amount of fine-tuning that's taken place in the last month is nothing short of miraculous. Baylor now measures about 4-1/2 inches and weighs 3 ounces. He's just beginning a growth spurt. He moves a lot, from stretches to kicks to turns, which get successively stronger as he gets stronger and bigger.

I've got a couple posts to check up on in the next few days; Our Beach Trip and Jonathan's First Father's (To-Be) Day. I'm hoping to have them up by mid week. I hope everyone has a Happy Monday!

Happy Father's Day to all of you Dad's and Daddy's-To-Be! I sure miss my Daddy.

Thing 2!

Aunt Jess and Grayden!
Last Saturday was Grayden's 1st Birthday Party. His actual Birthday was this past Tuesday June 16th. He had a Cat in The Hat themed Party. Everything was so cute and everyone had a lot of fun. We ate hamburger and hotdogs. Then everyone headed down to the pool. After swimming it was time to head back up for cake and for Grayden to open his gifts. I still can't believe he is already 1. I can still remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. Now he is walking and saying only a couple of words you can understand, but before long he will be talking away. He is such a happy baby.

The "B" stands for BAYLOR!!!

What is his name?!?! That is the question everyone is asking. The Answer is...

Thomas "Baylor" Cox

Thomas is my dad's first name. I think it is very appropriate to use his name after his passing 3 weeks after we found out we were pregnant. He was so excited for the two of us.

Baylor is a name I heard about 3-4 years ago and when Jonathan and I started trying to conceive we talked about names to pass the time. Baylor is one we loved years ago and still to this day is our #1 pick! We love it because it is different and cute! He will be able to grow into his name as he gets older.

I think some of you already figured our what the "B" stood for because you have heard me say this name throughout the past 2 years. It feels so good to finally tell everyone and to call him by his name!

Catching Up! 15 Weeks. A Week Late!

I apologize for not blogging last weekend before we left for our beach trip, but we had so much going on. Here is my 15 week post almost a week late.
Your baby is about 4 inches long and weighs around 2 ounces. The limbs are getting longer now, especially the legs. His bones are starting to store calcium, or ossify, which means that you could see his skeleton with an X-ray. At the same time , your baby's ears are looking more "human" and the eyes are moving closer together. (They started out far on the sides of his head.) Vision is developing even though the eyes remain closed. He can tell the difference between darkness and bright light around my belly, though.

Baby BOY Cox!!!

Granna bought Baby Cox some cute gifts yesterday!

I'm giving away a little hint on what the name might be! Any guesses??

So cute!

Another sweet gift from Granna!

Look Mommy and Daddy I'm getting to be a Big Boy!

His sweet hand!

Our Precious Baby BOY:)

He was sleepy. I think he is an early morning baby.

It's a BOY!

Here are lastet pictures of our Precious Baby Boy! We didn't get the best gender shot, but Jonathan said you could really tell during the ultrasound. I was just so excited when she said BOY. I don't really remember what was going on!

I wanted to let everyone know my Doctor's office called today with my appointment at UAB. It is June 29th @ 1:40. Please keep me, Jonathan, and Baby Cox in your prayers.

I'm off today and enjoyed a morning at Baynes Day Spa this morning. It was so relaxing and both me and Baby Cox enjoyed it so much! Thanks Jonathan (daddy). Tomorrow I am off work and taking my mom for some tests at the hospital. She is having 3 procedures/tests done. She has been anemic for a while now and recently her blood levels have gotten worse. She will be going in for a iron transfusion at the Montgomery Cancer Center in the upcoming week and possibly a blood transfusion. The doctor is doing these tests to hopefully find a reason for her levels to be at such a low level. Please keep her and my family in your prayers as we go through this. I will update you as soon as we know something.

Coming up: Saturday is one my favorite boys in the world's 1st Birthday Party, my nephew Grayden! Then we are heading to the beach on Monday. I'm looking forward to a lot of family time. I miss my daddy so much. It's coming up on 2 months this Sunday since he passed away and I can't even begin to explain how much he is missed by EVERYONE. It breaks my heart to hear Riley talk about him and the sad look he has on his face when someone mentions him. I did not think he would understand this early, but he certainly knows Grandpa is in Heaven and he misses him just as much we do. I wish my daddy was also here to celebrate with both Jonathan and I in this special time in our lives, but I know he is with us. He was so excited for us. Our son will defiantly know how much his Grandpa and Aunt Ashley would have loved to be a part of his life. OK, I've got to stop. It's physically painful thinking the both of them. Please keep us in your prayers as Father's Day is coming up a week from Sunday. I know that is going to be tuff on me, my brother, and my mom.

I know I have a lot of prayer requests right now, but I know with prayer we can get through all of this!

Thank Heaven for Little Boys!!!

Jonathan and I snuck in for a late afternoon ultrasound this afternoon at my doctor's office and was told It's A BOY! We have been told probably a boy 2 previous times, but now we are as sure as we can be and we are THRILLED! After the appointment we went to Name Dropper and Baby Cox's Granna (my mom) bought him a couple of precious outfits and a Little Giraffe burpie. It is so soft. As for names we are pretty sure on what it will be,but we will probably discuss it a little more before announcing it to everyone.
I apologize for not posting Monday, but Jonathan and I got some unexpected and unnerving news. My Down's Blood Test came back abnormal. We had a few options and after discussing it with Dr. Dupre we have decided to go to UAB in July for a targeted ultrasound. This is just a VERY detailed ultrasound. These results do not always indicate Down's. My blood percent for my age should have been 0.1 %, but it was 1%. This is not a high percent, but it's still considered abnormal. I have read several stories where women have gotten abnormal results and everything is fine. Dr. Dupre thinks the targeted ultrasound just in case the baby has any other defects or health problems we can go ahead and plan for the proper treatment for the baby gets here. Until we know anything all we can do is Pray and ask everyone to pray for us. I did find out too that I DO not have to have a C-Section. Dr. Dupre got my surgery report and it's not needed anymore (atleast not right now).
I feel like I have so much to say bc it's been a roller coaster of a week. I just don't know where to start. Jonathan and I did get a very nice gift from Baby Boy Cox's Granna last night. She showed up at the house with a Nikon D60 SLR camera. Jonathan and I are so excited we have been looking at them for the last month or so and we can't wait to be able to take GREAT pictures of our Baby BOY with it. We also got it just in time for Grayden's First Birthday Party this weekend and our week next week.
I will post my ultrasound pictures from today sometime in the next couple of days.

14 Weeks!

It's 4 a.m. and I can't sleep and have to be at work at 8:00. I've been pretty sick off and on this past week and I think my body has my days and nights mixed up. The good thing is I've not been sick tonight or this morning so far! I just can't relax enough to fall asleep. I just started a load of clothes and thought now might be a good time to update our blog.

I'm 14 weeks and my baby journal says that the baby's head is looking more and more proportional, mostly because the rest of the body is growing more rapidly now. This week, the baby is about 3-1/2 inches long, and weighs around 1-1/2 ounces. A fuzzy layer of fine hair, called lanugo, is beginning to coat the entire body. Internally, the liver is starting to secrete bile, and the spleen is helping produce red blood cells. The brain continues to mature, the baby can make different facial expressions and may even react when someone gives my belly a poke.

I'm noticing that my "baby bump" might be getting a little bigger. I still have not gained any weight. Which I'm not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing. To date I think I'm down 13 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. At my doctor's appt on Monday, I'm going to talk to Dr. Dupre about my weight and the nausea/vomiting I'm still having. I don't really think there is anything that can be done, but I'm just worried because I barely eat and I don't want to get dehydrated. I know this will all change before I know it. Jonathan and I still hoping to get an ultrasound Monday, but I'm not sure if it will happen or not. I will update my blog Monday night on how our visit goes.

This weekend it's gonna be a lot of work and probably no play. I'm working today and Jonathan is doing a side job and will be working all day today. He is hoping they can finish it all in one day instead of having to work Sunday too. We will probably head to my mom's sometime on Sunday for him to finish up painting around there. It's a good thing we only have one more week of work then we are heading down to Destin the following Monday with Jonathan's parents, sister, and our niece Emma. My mom was going to come with us, but I think she might stay here instead. I wish she would come. I think it would be great for her to get away for a while.

One last thing, I wanted to ask everyone to pray for my sister-in-law Meribeth's and her family right now. Her grandmother passed away Thursday evening. She had been in a Montgomery Hospital for over 30 days and just continued to develop more problems. All of her family besides her son, whose flight did not make it in time were there with her when she passed. She did have a chance to talk to him on the phone just shortly before passing away. Please pray that the Lord gives them strength and comfort right now as they are grieving. This is the 3rd family member between my family, Jonathan's, and my sister-in-laws that has gone to be with our Lord in less than 2 weeks.

Hopefully, I will have some exciting things coming up in the next couple of weeks to blog about; doctor's appts (possible gender determination) , Grayden's 1st Birthday Party next Saturday, and our beach trip. Stay tuned...

13 Weeks, 2 Days!

Profile Shot!

Baby Cox laying upside down!

Face Shot:)

Baby Cox really put on a show for us today. He/She was flipping and rolling every way imaginable. We got some really good views today. We did get our 2nd gender guess. I know I did not post on here last week that we got one, but we did. The guess was the same today, but we were still told not to make any major purchases because of how early I am. I have an appt with Dr. Dupre next week for my 2nd OB appt and I'm hoping he lets us have another peak at Baby Cox. I think by then we will be able to know for sure. The tech said usually after 14 weeks you can be sure if you have a good shot. As for right now I'm going on believing the guess we have gotten twice now and focusing only on that gender and we could not be happier. I can't wait to share the news with all of you soon. I promise it won't be that longer.

The baby looked healthy. The Heartbeat today was 151. The neck fold which is one of the marker's they check for Down's was normal and everything else looks great so far. I will get my blood work back from the test today in 7-10 days. The results really do not make a difference to us. We just wanted another chance to Baby Cox. I will keep you updated on what we find out.

I'm hoping to find out on Monday with my appt with Dr. Dupre if I WILL have to have a C-section for sure. I want to start preparing myself. Jonathan and I are planning on taking birthing classes starting in September and we will learn about deliveries both ways. I guess that is all the updating I have for now. I hope everyone has a great week!
