Mommy's 6 Week Appt!

Dr. D had a cold so he couldn't hold Baylor, but we still took a picture!
I had my 6 week post partum check up today with Dr. D. Daddy didn't go to this appointment. It was weird not having him there. He went to EVERY OB appt I had throughout my pregnancy! Today we just did the annual stuff and discussed my glucophage which I take for my PCOS and Birth Control/future children. I'm gonna start my glucophage back as soon as I stop breastfeeding. The combination of BFing and glucophage could make my sugar levels drop to low so he would like me to wait to start it. I got a script for the mini pill. Again this was given since I am BFing still. When I stop BFing he said I could go on the pill or just not take anything and "be careful." After going through fertility treatments you learn SO much about your body and how it works so being careful doesn't seem like it would be that hard. He did say ovulation can change after pregnancy so just know things might happen at different times of the month now. He did not think the shot, IUD, or any other type of BC would be good for us since those can delay conception after use. I honestly would never use any of those methods anyways, so that is good! We can't wait to welcome another Baby Cox into the world. Me probably sooner than Jonathan, HA, but for now we do want to enjoy spoiling Baylor being the only child and soak up every minute with just him!

One of the sweet women who works for Dr. D asked me if I was still having issues with the whole childcare thing. I guess that means my mom has mentioned it to some of the ladies at work. She was giggling about it and Dr. D wanted to know what was going on. I told him I'm having issues with the thought of leaving Baylor and going back to work and that I still haven't left him. He came up with an invention for me to watch Baylor from my phone all day long, HA! I told him I didn't think that would help my separation issues. He is so funny! I did ask him if what I'm feeling is normal and he reassured me it is. He shared with me how hard it was for him to take his son when he was a baby and drop him off everyday. It's always so good to visit with everyone up there. I'm so blessed to have an AMAZING OB who took such good care of me and Baylor throughout my entire pregnancy. He said today they are going to miss seeing me (they did see me A LOT!), but I can come visit anytime since I have friends and family there. Dr. D I'll be taking you up on that soon!

Doctor's Visit!

Sweet, Sweet Baby!

I LOVE to ride!
Getting ready to go see Dr. M!

Daddy and Me after my appointment!

We took Baylor in to see Dr. M today. His spitting up just wasn't getting any better, his tummy seems to bother him a lot, and he had a little rash on his tummy and chest. Dr. M seems to think that the spitting up is still being caused by his reflux so we changed his reflux meds. We have switched formula's a few times so he said not to worry about changing it again because it obviously isn't making a difference when we switch. We think his tummy has been crampy because he has been on meds for thrush and it is a side effect so we quit it today just 2 days shy of finishing it anyways. Finally the little red dots we have been seeing is just a "baby thing" Dr. M said. I was glad to hear he doesn't seem to be allergic to milk bc I was starting to think that. I feel so much better now that we have some answers. We head back to see him next Thursday for Baylor's 2 month appt and his first round of vaccines. Hopefully by then his reflux should be better. If not he is going to send Baylor to a gastro Doctor, but I have a feeling tweaking the meds will be the answer (at least I hope). Oh and my Little Man is growing he is up to 9lbs 6oz! Dr. M was very pleased with his weight gain since he started out so small. He also told Bay that he has a beautiful complexion! Then gave him a kiss on the cheek! We are very thankful to have such a great Pediatrician for our sweet boy. I can't wait to get the rest of his stats at his appt next week. We have a feeling most of that weight gain is in length!

7 Weeks!

Baylor turned 7 weeks old on Friday. I still can't believe he will be 2 months old at the end of this week. Time is passing by way to fast!

What is Baylor up to?!

- I drink about 4 oz most of my feedings, but sometimes I will want an extra ounce!
-I usually sleep 1 hour for every ounce I drink, but at night I can sometimes go 6 or 7 hours straight sleeping.
-I've had an upset tummy lately. Mommy and Daddy had to start supplementing me with formula when I was hospitalized for juandice and weight loss at 5 days old. Ever since then, they have been trying to find the best formula for me which hasn't been easy.
-I still love to nurse.
-I love my paci. When my tummy is upset I really like it. It really seems to soothe me!
-I have started to coo and make sweet little sounds.
-I'm also smiling more!
-I love listening to my silly cousins, Riley and Grayden run around and play.
-My hair is starting to grow back in the front of my head where it fell out. It still looks dark.
-Mommy and Daddy think I'm getting so long.
-They can tell I've finally put some weight on. Mostly in my cheeks and now my belly.
-I really like to sleep on my tummy while laying on Mommy or Daddy's tummy. Especially when mine hurts.
-I try to lift my head a lot and I'm pretty good at it.
-I can still wear my few little premie gowns that I have, my newborn clothes, and my newborn diapers. I've only outgrown one sleeper bc my legs and arms grew so much.
-My cry is still really soft. Mommy and Daddy thought for sure it would get louder, but so far I'm a pretty quiet baby.
-If I fall asleep while Mommy or Daddy or holding me I will often peak out of one eye to make sure they are still there.
-I follow Mommy and Daddy with my eyes when they are walking around. I like to know where they are at all times.
-I napped in my crib for the first time a couple weeks ago. I'm going to move in there when my reflux and tummy issues get better, but for now I'm enjoying being in Mommy and Daddy's room.

I think that is all the Baylor updates I have for now! I'll be back to update soon!

This year is one we will never forget for so many reasons. There are 2 big events that happened this past year. The first being that my daddy passed away in April. It is so hard to lose someone that you love especially a parent. I think about him all the time and how much I wish he would've got a chance to at least hold Baylor once. Then I remind myself that he's not suffering anymore and is in a much better place. Sometimes it makes it easier, but sometimes not. Then the next big thing is the birth of our sweet little miracle, Baylor. I still can't explain how much my life changed in that very moment, but it was UNBELIEVABLE . How can anyone think that having a child is anything less than a miracle?! So those 2 people are what I think of when I think of 2009. It's crazy bc I want so bad to say that it's the best year of my life bc Baylor is the best thing that has ever happened to me and to Jonathan and I, but how could it be the best when I lost my father? A lot of times it just doesn't make since. I do know that the Lord's timing could not have been any better. At times we might not understand why things happen when they do, but I do see that Baylor was given to us when we needed him the most. "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Job 1:21 I look forward to 2010 remembering my father and making many great memories with my sweet Baylor!

I spent New Year's Eve with my 2 favorite boys! Earlier Thursday evening we went to dinner with Tab, Meribeth, and Riley. Then we headed back to the house and watched the Ball drop. Well, we technically watched it at 11p.m. Then Jonathan passed out and Baylor was sleeping off and on throughout the last hour. I stayed awake even though I was exhausted .I wanted to get some New Years pictures of my Little Man. I hope you enjoy them!
FYI some of the pictures are out of order and I accidentally downloaded one that was from the day before NYE. I'm not sure how to delete photos on here? You would think I knew how to, right?!

Newborn Photos!

These are Baylor's Newborn Photos taken when he was 9 days old. Suzanne from SuzanneWilliamsPhotography.com came out to our home and took them. She did such a wonderful job. She was so good with Baylor and you can tell she really loves what she does. We look forward to using her in the future. Thanks again, Suzanne!

Visiting my Grandpa and Aunt Ashley

Wearing the bib my Mommy and Daddy gave Grandpa the night they told him they were expecting Me!

This Christmas Jonathan and I feel extremely blessed to have our sweet Baylor. It was such a special time for us we will always remember our 1st Christmas as a family of 3! We started out Christmas Eve by going to the Candlelight Service at our Church. Baylor did so good. We thought he would do just fine, but I think we both were a little worried he might start crying during the service, but he never did. He did have a wet diaper half way through so Jonathan went out and changed him. Then they came back in. After the service we went home started a fire and opened up one of Baylor's gifts with him. This is something both Jonathan and I have done with our families growing up and we wanted to pass this tradition down to our children. The gift he opened up was one from Granna. He got a Fisher Price Little People Nativity Scene. I was SO excited. Jonathan and I had been looking EVERYWHERE for one of these. All the stores were sold out and there was no way we could get one here in time for Christmas. I really wanted him to have the 2009 edition since it was his 1st Christmas. So Jonathan and I were shocked when we saw what it was. I know he will have so much fun next Christmas playing with it and we will have love teaching him about the The Birth of our Christ Jesus. Then Christmas morning we woke up at 6:00 because we wanted to be able to spend a little time with Baylor opening up his gifts before we headed over to my brother's for breakfast and presents. Santa brought Baylor some Christmas Books, a frog, a little reindeer, some jammies, and some clothes. He also has one gift (personalized pacifiers) coming that didn't arrive before Christmas. After we all got dressed we headed over to Tab and Meribeth's house. We spent the morning over there with the Blackwell Clan, Granna, Meribeth's grandparents, her dad, and my grandparents. It was so much fun watching the boys open up all of their gifts. They got so much! We left from there and went to my Uncle's house and visited with him, my aunt, 2 cousins, and my aunt's family. It was good to see all of them. We don't see them often enough.

After our busy morning in Montgomery it was time to head up to Trussville to visit with all of Jonathan's mom's side of the family. We ate some good food, visited, and opened gifts. It was good to see all of his family. We don't see them that often either. That is what makes the Holidays so great! We headed back to Montgomery that night and went straight to my mom's to pick her up. Every year we go look at Christmas lights with Tab's family so headed over to there house and loaded up in their van. Everyone went except for Grayden. He stayed with his Mimi and Pops that night. This is another tradition we will pass down to Baylor. We really enjoy looking at all the lights and I know he will too.

Saturday afternoon we took Baylor out to the cemetery for the 1st time. It's tough going out there. Before Daddy passed away it wasn't as hard. I guess I had gotten use to going and visiting Ashley, but ever since he died it's been hard to even think about. I know they both had a great Christmas together celebrating with Jesus on his Birthday. The absence of their presence is always felt especially during the Holidays.

I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas as well!
