Leaving the hospital!

On Wednesday we took Baylor in for a Billirubin check because when we were discharged from the hospital on Sunday his level was a little elevated. Well our appointment did not go well at all. Baylor had dropped down to 5lbs 9oz. His birth weight was 6lbs 13oz and when we discharged it had dropped to 6lbs 5oz. Then his billirubin level was 26. They want it below 12. Dr. M thought it was best to go ahead and admit Baylor to Jackson's Hospital and go ahead knock this thing out rather than wait and try to do some things at home. I think my heart stopped when he first told us the news. I could not keep back the tears. Not only that he was being admitted, but I couldn't help but feel guilty for the weight loss because I am breastfeeding him. I also felt guilty for not knowing how "yellow" he had gotten and how much weight he lost. Dr. M explained to me that I had done nothing wrong which was exactly what I needed to hear. The good part about this thing if there is one is that we were able to stay with Baylor in a room at Jackson's. After a little talk and a prayer led by Dr. M we were off to pack some clothes and head to the hospital to start Baylor on double photo light therapy. Thankfully we were discharged Thursday evening shortly after 9pm. We head back in the morning (Saturday) for a billi check and weight check. We are praying for good news. I will post an update after our appt.

We're home!

I know I'm a little late posting, but things have been a little crazy around here. I have so much to feel you in on.
Last Thursday afternoon Jonathan and I headed to the hospital to be admitted at 3:00 to start the induction process. Shortly after getting settled into bed I got my IV and my first dose of meds to soften my cervix. The rest of the night we just hung out watched tv and had some visitors. During the night I was given 2 more doses of meds to soften my cervix. I got permission the night before to take a shower before we actually started the pitocin that morning at 4:30 so I got up at 3:00, showered and got ready for the big day. At 4:30 the pitocin was started and I was 1.5cm dilated. I got my epidural shortly after around 6:00 and was 3 cm dilated. At that point things started to fly by. I went from 3cm at 7:00 to 6cm in a hour and a half at 8:30. I started to feel pressure in my bottom so I called the nurse they checked me around 10 and I was 9cm. To say I was shocked is a huge understatement. I think everyone was. Dr. Dupre wasn't expecting me to go til the afternoon close to 4:00. Shortly after I was told I was 9cm. The nurses went ahead and started bringing in all the equipment and started warming the baby bed. I did a few practice pushes. The nurse called Dr. Dupre to let him now I was getting close. Then it was time to start the real pushing with the nurse. As soon as I pushed him down to the point where he would stay and not go back up after each contraction they called the Dr. D and he was there in a few minutes. I pushed through less than 10 contractions with him there and at the end he used the vacuum to get him the rest of the way out. Seeing him for the first time was AMAZING. It's true when they say you feel an instant love. That is exactly what I felt.

Baylor weighed 6lbs 13oz and was 20in long and is the prettiest baby I've ever layed my eyes on!

Last OB Appointment!!!!

It's official our sweet Baylor will be making his big arrival this Friday!!! My BP was "ok" at the office this morning, but has been up the whole time I've been home from the hospital. Jonathan, Dr. D, and I all decided that it would best to stick with our original plan and deliver on Friday instead of waiting another week. Dr. D checked me today and I'm so excited because I'm already 1.5 cm dilated and 70% effaced. I knew something had changed because I've felt a lot of pressure since Monday. It feels good going into the induction when my body has already started the process on it's own.

We had originally planned to go in Friday morning at 5:00, but Dr. D would like me to go in tomorrow at 3 pm and start the cervadil over night. It is a medication to help soften the cervix to get ready for the induction itself. They will start the pitocin on Friday morning between 4-6am and we should have our sweet little boy that afternoon sometime.

Everyone keeps asking me if I'm nervous. I feel so many emotions going into this; excited, nervous, anxious, sad that my daddy and sister won't be here, overwhelmed of fear of the unknown of what exactly my body is about to go through, but we are SO ready for this and the wait we had to get here is making everything SO much sweeter!

I will try and post an update when things settle down. I might even get Jonathan to post a little update after Baylor arrives. Until then please continue to pray for us, our Doctor, and the rest of the hospital staff that will be taking care of me and Baylor.

Baylor Update!

As many of you know I was admitted back to the hospital during my appointment last Tuesday morning for PIH (pregnancy-induced-hypertension). I was monitored in Labor and Delivery the first night and did a few tests to test for toxemia again. My blood work and 24 hour urine test came back normal again. We were relieved to find out that I still didn't have toxemia like Dr. D was thinking was starting up. They ended up sending me down to post partum until yesterday morning when I was finally discharged.

Dr. Dupre and I had a discussion about what to do next because my Blood Pressure's were going back and forth, but most of them were pretty good and my swelling was doing the same. Any type of stress would make it worse. We decided to go ahead and book an Induction for this Friday, November 13th at 5 am. I am going to see him in his office tomorrow, Wednesday for another BP check and NST (Non Stress Test), which is where they monitor me and Baylor. If I am looking better during that appointment we will hold off on the Induction until the following Saturday which is November 21st. I will go in next week for a check before then, but it will be with another Doctor. The reason we are saying it would be a scheduled induction the following Saturday is because his father is having surgery and will be out of town all week until then. He and I both really want him to be there for the delivery. I would not go beyond that point bc that 38 weeks is the maximum time recommended for a PIH patient. So that's it. As of right now we are preparing for a Friday Delivery. I think we are both still shocked, but are SO excited about meeting our sweet little angel, Baylor.

I will post an update after my appt tomorrow to let everyone know if the Induction date is changed til Saturday. Please continue to keep Baylor, Jonathan, and Me in your prayers!

Happy Halloween!

He is such a sweet boy!

Riley eating his Halloween goodies!

Making a mess!

Silly Grayden!

Riley getting telling everyone where to stand in line... he had no idea we were watching him!

On Friday afternoon my mom and I went up to HBC for Riley and Grayden's Halloween Parties. We could not believe when we got there how quiet all the kids were in both classes. You could tell they had just got up from their naps. They were eating when we got their and listening to music. My mom and I went back and forth to each room. We ended up taking the boys with us once they got done eating. They were wired a couple hours later!
On Halloween morning we headed over to my mom's to watch the Auburn game. What a GREAT game we had that day! Then we headed home and did not leave the rest of the day. I was EXHAUSTED. I had so many things I needed to do yesterday and today, but have not had any energy to do them. Since we did not head back out yesterday we missed the boys in their costumes :( Riley was a duck and Grayden was a Krazy Kid. They went to the fall festival at church then stopped by Granna's to get their Halloween Surprises she had for them. I know they had a great time and were full of candy!

35 Weeks!!!

Physical development is now almost done, but the "finishing touches"- most important, filling out with protective baby fat-are still underway. This week the average baby is about 18 inches long and weighs around 5-1/4 lb pounds.

The liver is starting to function, processing waste. Your baby's liver needs to get ready to break down bilirubin, a byproduct of red blood cells. (If it can't do this effectively by the time your baby is born, bilirubin may accumulate in the blood and cause jaundice.) The kidneys are also well developed now. Now your baby may be feeling some of your Braxton-Hicks contractions, even if you haven't noticed them yet.

This week I haven't felt that great. I've had a lot of contractions which is causing an irritated stomach. I am also fighting a cold/ sinus infection which brought along a 2 day headache. Finally, today I started feeling better! Today I feel like Baylor is putting more pressure down low. My swelling comes and goes. If I'm up moving around it happens in my face, hands, and feet, but it seems to all go away once I'm settled in bed. I think that's about it.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween today!
