Seeing Blue!

Me holding up the fabric for his valance!

Baylor's sweet initials!

The Daddy-to-Be working hard!

26 weeks, 1 day!

This weekend we (meaning Jonathan) painted Baylor's nursery. Let me just say finding the perfect blue is not easy, but I think we found exactly what we were looking for.

We also picked up our Valance fabric from being monogrammed and the only thing left to do is have Mary put it and the batting on his cornice board she made for his window. She has a blog called MaryMade it's under my favorites to the right. Check it out!

Here is a little peak at Baylor's nursery coming together!

A Trip to OB Triage

On Tuesday I started having some pains off and on all day. I had no idea what they were, but just knew that they were uncomfortable in my high abdomen. They were not on any rhythmic pattern so I thought maybe my stomach was just upset. Well on Wednesday morning when I get to work they started again, but were more frequent 4-5 a hour. I called my doctor's office and they told me it sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions which are normal, but I should not be having them as often as I was describing this early. They told me to go home drink lots of water and get in bed and rest. If they continued after I did that I needed to call them back because they needed to see me. Well sure enough they didn't go away so I was sent over to Baptist East OB Triage to get monitored. I was there for several hours hooked up to the monitor. They also did a urinalysis to make sure I didn't have a UTI. They also did a culture to see if I was going to go into preterm labor in the next 2 weeks. Both tests came back normal. They did have to give me an injection of Brethane (sp?) because the monitor did show I was having contractions. If any of you have ever had the injection then you know how bad it makes you feel. It makes your heart race and it also made me pretty shaky and nervous for about an hour, but it worked so that is all that matters. I was sent home and rested til my follow up appt on Friday.

Yesterday Dr. Dupre went over how many contractions a hour are normal and what is not. He prescribed me the brethane in pill form to take if I start having them again. While I was there and the nurse was getting my stats. I knew my blood pressure must have been high because she took it on one arm and then the other. Sure enough my blood pressure was back up like it was at my 5 month appt. Dr. Dupre decided to run some blood work to check my liver and kidneys and we will get the results on Monday. They also did the routine urinalysis and he did find a trace of protein in my urine, but was not to concerned about it. My feet were not swollen so he thinks I just might be one of the women who gets gestational hypertension. He doesn't think it's preeclampsia starting. If my labs come back abnormal he is sending me to do the 24 hour urine collection which is a test done for preeclampisa. Either way if the blood work is normal or not and if my BP is normal or not between now and Tuesday he still wants to see me again. I'm hoping my labs and BP are all normal and this is just my body being crazy after what happened on Wednesday. It looks like I'm going to be spending a lot of time back at the doctor. After my follow up on Tuesday my 7th month OB appt is the following Tuesday. Then the following week we are hoping to get in for our 4D ultrasound. I will of course keep you all posted on all of these appts.

We are down to double digits on our pregnancy countdown now! 99 days to go (or less)!!!

I'm going to do a longer blog sometime later tonight or tomorrow about our eventful week. I'm sure a lot of you saw on my facebook I was in OB Triage on Wednesday for contractions. I will blog about that visit and my follow up appt today. I'm really tired right now and I'm about to go get in bed and rest. I promise updates are coming soon!

Birthing Class #1!!!

Before our Birthing Class. (25 weeks, 3 days)
Let me apologize for the pictures quality...

Tuesday evening Jonathan and I started our first Birthing Class. We will go every Tuesday from 6-8 for 5 weeks. We are taking it at our doctor's office. Mary Jane Waller is the wife of Dr. Waller and she is the one teaching the class. Mary Jane is a labor and delivery nurse and we already know she is going to be such a great teacher! She has so much energy to her and she is so funny!

We started our first class with a prayer led by Mary Jane. Then she gave us a little background on her and her sweet family. I'm lucky to enough have known this family for many years. Through her son who I went to school with and through her amazing husband Dr. Waller who my mom works for. As many of you know how wonderful of a doctor and man he is. He has been wonderful to my mom over the years and yet again just recently over the death of my father. After Mary Jane introduced herself it was our time to do the same. I think Jonathan counted 16 couple's in there Tuesday night.

After all the introductions were done we opened our booklets and went over our first lesson. We then watched a little video and then moved to the floor to practice our relaxation techniques. This is when 2 great things were instructed for the men to do! The first was she had all the husbands give all of us preggo's back massages for 15 minutes. She gave the daddys-to-be a homework assignment to continue to do that 3 time a week. Jonathan whispers to me you've been demoted. See I'm a very lucky woman that I get massages every night! Many of you may think this started when I got pregnant, but no he's been doing it for years now. Of course he asked Mary Jane if he could get that put in writing, massages only 3 times a week and he explained to her he did them every night. She told him he should bc if mama's not happy no one is! Okay so on to the 2nd thing that I want to give props to Mary Jane for doing is asking us to preggo's to cover our ears while she instructed the men to go out and buy their wives a gift to give to us once our baby's are here, and preferably something sparkly! Don't you love her already?!?

During the class at some point Jonathan will have to wear the empathy belly that 2 of the men were lucky enough to wear at our first class. Of course I will post Jonathan's belly pictures as soon as it's his turn!

25 Weeks!!!

This is a picture to represent Baylor's size from 25-28 weeks. My baby journal says that he is about 12-1/2 inches long and weighs around 1-1/2 pounds. He is slowly on the way to looking more like a cuddly newborn as his body bulks up with more baby fat. More importantly, growing a good layer of fat tissue will help regulate his own body temperature outside the womb and will provide energy. This week he might also show off a particular hair color and texture (but these could change after birth and he might lose this first head of hair altogether).
At 25 weeks I'm still pretty fatigued and I'm starting to swell pretty bad on the days that I work. I'm on my feet 90% or more of my day and I think sometimes it's just a little too much. The good thing is my blood pressure is still very good. I'm really looking forward to the Fall weather. I'm hoping it will make a big difference in my swelling. I also feel like my belly has grown a lot over the last week. I promise I will post a belly picture on here sometime this week. I guess that is all the updates on me and Baylor for now.
I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weekend and has a good week ahead!

Baylor's Bedding!

Option #1

Option #2

Option #3

Option #4

Option#5

Option #6

Jonathan and I have the fabric picked out and now we just need to make a final decision on how we want to use each fabric. I thought I would post a few options and see if I could get some feedback.
I hope I don't make this too confusing. All of the fabrics can be used in any order.

24 Weeks!!!

This week your baby is almost at the 1-foot mark. Average weight: about 1-1/4 pounds. It's a time of "more of the same." The brain continues to develop. (That organ in particular will be only partially "online" at birth, and requires the first 3 years of life to wire up, in terms of how sight, sound, and other stimuli are fully processed.) The lungs are branching out and developing cells to make surfactant, which helps the air sacs inflate. His taste buds are also under development now.

Your baby still moves quite a bit, even though the amniotic sac is becoming somewhat of a right fit. The amniotic fluid allows him to move safely and relatively easily.

Q&A from this Mommy-to-Be!

How far along? 24 Weeks!
Total Weight gain? 6 pounds
Maternity Clothes? most of the time. I can still wear some pre-pregnancy clothes, but maternity are SO much more comfortable!
Sleep? very different! I am much more of a morning person now. I don't sleep for long periods either bc I'm running to the restroom 5-10 times a night or I just can't get comfortable from not sleeping on my back.
Best moment this week? Jonathan feeling Baylor kick for the first time.
Food Cravings? not really. Atleast not right now.
Gender? a sweet little boy!!!
Labor Signs? No! I'm praying it stays that way for a few more months.
Belly Button? still on the inside, but it's becoming shallower!
What I miss the most? sleeping on my back.
What am I looking forward to the most? holding our sweet little, Baylor when he gets here. I can't even begin to imagine how that moment will feel! I'm also really excited about our Birthing classes starting a week from Tuesday and our 4D ultrasound coming up soon!
Milestones? being just over 6 months pregnant!

The Daddy-to-Be Felt Baylor Kicks!!!

We are SO excited that Jonathan finally felt Baylor kick Monday night. Every time he is kicking away I tell Jonathan to feel my belly and he stops. It's like he hears us talking! This night I told him as soon as I get in bed and lay down put your hand on my belly and make sure your comfortable it may take a few minutes, but he will start kicking as he does every night when I get in bed. Sure enough about 2 minutes later he starts kicking and Jonathan felt him. It was so special for both of us. I'm glad that the daddy-to-be can feel a little of what I feel everyday. A sweet reminder of the beautiful miracle our God has blessed us with.

I want to ask everyone to please continue praying for our friends Ashley and Barrett as they are going through such a tough time dealing with the loss of their identical twin girls. They are such strong people and I know the Lord is going to get them through this.

I also would like to ask everyone to please pray for a sweet friend of mine, Courtney Allen and her family. Her dad passed away in his sleep last night. After losing my father just 4 short months ago I know the hard road that lies ahead for them. I still can't imagine the pain that comes from such a sudden loss with no warning. She is getting married next year and my heart breaks for her when I think about her father missing out on such a big moment in her life.

6th Month OB Appt!

This morning Jonathan and I had our 6th month appt. We got a good report. It wasn't too exciting, but we covered the important things. My Blood Pressure was the first thing. It was 127/72. That is much better than my last appt when it was a little high. Then Baylor's Heart rate was in the 150's and let me tell you, he stuck to his regular routine of being very active at our morning appts. You could hear him moving like crazy while she was trying to get the HB. Then came the "weigh in" I must admit I was very scared about this today and I told the nurse too. She was laughing at me,but I gained 4 pounds which is what I should've gained. A pound a week for the last month. My total weight gain so far is 6 pounds. I would've put money on a lot more because my belly has grown so much lately and I feel so much bigger. Sooner or later I'm going to have a big jump everyone keeps telling me and I might not be talking about my weigh in's anymore:) They also measured the height of my fundus today which was very exciting to see how I measured since we weren't getting an ultrasound. My belly measured 24 weeks and I'm 23 weeks and 3 days so right on track. If you remember all of our ultrasounds show Baylor measuring a little ahead and it looks like my belly is going along with the same measurements. Since I'm not measuring over 2 weeks ahead they will keep my due date the same even though I probably ovulated a little earlier the month we conceived.

One of the next 2 things we discussed was my swelling. My hands and feet have started to swell some already. It's hopefully just due to the extreme heat. He wants me to try and stay inside and cool as much as possible, increase my water intake, and decrease my salt intake. He said swelling can go along with high blood pressure, but my BP was really good today. He also said some people just swell during pregnancy. I really feel it's the heat bc it seems to happen more on the weekends when we are out and about running errands. We also went over my gestational diabetes test which I will do at my next appt in 4 weeks on Sept 8th. They went ahead and gave me my little drink. I heard it taste like High C so I'm hoping it's not that bad and of course PRAYING that I pass the test. I'm a little worried since I do have PCOS and stopped my glucophage after my first trimester. I really don't want to worry about have GD's.

That's all we really covered today. I did find out after I go for my 7th month OB appt on Sept 8th it might be my last 4 week appt or I may have 1 more 4 weeks later. After that I will start going every 2 weeks! Then of course the last month we go weekly to check my progress. Time sure is flying by and I can't wait. I imagine the next few months will do the same with us working on the nursery, weekly pregnancy classes, showers, football season, and getting ready for the Holidays. It's going to be such a busy fall, but that's the way I like it.

On another note. I want to ask everyone to please pray for the Gilbreath Family. They were expecting Identical Twin Girls at the end of September, but both little angels have gone to be with our Lord. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it must be to lose a child, let alone two. Please pray for comfort, strength, peace, and understanding for both Ashley and Barrett as well as both of their families in the days ahead.

23 Weeks, 1 Day!!!

About 11 inches long, your baby now weighs a grand total of approximately 1 pound. As he gains weight and moves around, muscles are being strengthened. Air sacs (alveoli) and blood vessels are also developing in the lungs just about now, getting your baby ready to breathe. However, the lungs would still be too immature to do the job on their own if he was born now, mechanical support would be required. Even though he won't actually breathe air until birth, he "practices" by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid.

The hearing is also improving. Your baby may begin to grow accustomed to the usual loud noises produced by your body or around your home. Some people believe that listening to music calms a fetus. Certainly, by birth your fetus will have come to recognize your distinctive voice. (It's even been said that babies in the womb who hear a dog bark will be less likely spooked as newborns.)

My What to Expect book says I'm now in my 6th month of pregnancy. I still can't believe how fast time is going. I feel like my belly is growing daily. I need to post some belly pictures soon. Jonathan and I go on Tuesday for my 6th month OB appt. We have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming weeks. Our appt on Tuesday, birthing classes start 2 weeks from Tuesday, our 3D/4D ultrasound around 28 weeks, and us making more progress on the nursery.

We'll keep you updated on how the appointment goes on Tuesday. I hope everyone has a great week!

What Will These 2 Babies Think When Baylor Arrives??

Princess Chloe! She is my baby:)

She's not a fan of the camera

In his favorite spot!

She thinks we can't see her!

These 2, 4-legged babies of ours are not going to know what to think when Baylor gets here. I know they have to know something is going on with us painting and moving things around. Jonathan and I can't wait to see both of them with Baylor and how they react to everything he does. We love our Chloe and Hank SO much!

Baylor's Nursery Furniture!!!

Baylor's Changing Table!

Baylor's Crib (wrong finish)

I thought I would post a picture of Baylor's furniture that we have decided on. We are getting both pieces in Snowdrift which is the white color shown in the picture of the changing table. I couldn't find a picture of the crib in snowdrift online so you will just have to imagine it;) or take a look at it next time your in Storkland.

22 Weeks!

The cute little foods I post weekly to try to illustrate the size our sweet boy is now will only change from month to month. The papaya is used to illustrate month 5 (21-25 weeks).

Our baby journal says our boy is about 10 inches long and weighs around 13 ounces. Despite the padding your baby is acquiring , filling out occurs slowly, so it still looks a little wrinkly. The skin is so thin that you see can a network of blood vessels underneath it. The facial features are more visible now, including minuscule lips, fully formed eyelids, and fine eyebrows. Some parents are surprised at how distinctive the features may appear on an ultrasound. The eyes are also fully formed, though pigment has yet to color them. Also around this time, your baby's liver and pancreas continue to develop.
