Baylor's Fabric!!!

Baylor's Nursery Fabric!

I'm excited to say that Jonathan and I have finally decided on the fabric for Baylor's bedding, window treatments, glider, and his baby book. We have decided to use a company out of Fairhope, JavisDavis.com. They have been so great to work with and we can't wait to see everything come together. They even recommended some paint colors for the nursery that will look good with all the fabric. Jonathan and I will probably spend this weekend getting samples and trying things out.

Healthy Baby Boy!

That's right! Jonathan and I had our follow up at UAB yesterday and Baylor looks great! The ultrasound did not show any defects with his heart. Of course you can't rule anything out 100% until he's born, but this decreases his chance of having Down's by so much. Jonathan and I are so happy to have this behind us and focus on his arrival in 4 short months! Thank you all for all the prayers and support!

He was not being very cooperative which I was disappointed in because his Nana (Jonathan's mom) went with us. This was her first ultrasound she has been to with us. He dug his head in my bladder the whole time. She saw his legs, foot, spine, and a lot of his heart, but that's about it. I'm telling everyone he is NOT an afternoon baby. He likes his naps! The only 2 pictures we got were one of his "boy' parts again and another foot shot. We will be having our 4D ultrasound in a about a month and a half and maybe we will get in for one more before then to see how much he's changed.

21 Weeks!

At 21 weeks our sweet baby is about 10 inches long and weighs around 10-1/2 ounces. The digestive system is maturing; while swallowing amniotic fluid our baby absorbs some water and nutrients from it.
Our boy is getting plenty of exercise inside of me and my journal says I might wonder if our baby is a night owl based on its "schedule." The truth is all of my movement throughout the day likely rocks him to sleep, so when I go to bed, he's raring to go!
At 21 weeks I'm pretty good. I have stared nesting a lot in the past week. Baylor has been moving a lot today. I think I feel him moving around more. He seems a little higher. Most of his kicks in the past have been in my lower abdomen, but lately they seem to be right around my belly button. My hips have started aching some too. I guess I better prepare for a lot more of that happening over the next 4 months.
Jonathan and I are heading up to Birmigham around lunch tomorrow for our appt. at UAB. This appt shouldn't last as long as my last one bc I'm pretty sure all we are doing is another targeted ultrasound. Doctor's actually perform the scan so we don't have to wait to see them after, which is nice. I will post an update on how Baylor is doing and how much he has grown. I'm hoping to get a few more good pictures of him to post.
I hope everyone has a great week! I can't believe it's the last week of July!!!

Happy Birthday, Daddy

Today would've been my daddy's 59th Birthday. It's been a tough day. I've been trying to remember what we did for his birthday last year and I can't. I'm sure we just went over to my parent's house, but did we eat over there, what did we get him, did I notice anything unusual then? I simply can't remember. I do know he was one of the hard one's to buy for so we always ended up getting him clothes, golf shirts, or something with Auburn on it. This is the 4th Holiday/Celebration without him here since he passed away. Mother's Day, Father's Day, Mama's b-day, and now his b-day. I know that they will never be the same again.

This past Thursday Tracey and Emma came in town and stayed the night with us. I got a few pictures of Emma playing with Sawyer, Brannon's son. Brannon is one of Tracey's best friends. They came by the house to visit for a little. Little Bryson was sick so we didn't get to see him,but Sawyer and Emma had a great time chasing each other and the dogs!

I also got some pictures of Riley and Grayden playing with their truck, ball, and horseshoes over at Granna's. It has been such a nice weekend. I wish the weather would stay this nice.

20 Weeks!!!

I'm sorry I don't have my usual cute little food to illustrate Baylor's size, but the site I usually download it from isn't working today.

My journal says now that your baby has stretched his legs out a bit, his length is measured from the crown of his head to his heel. The average fetus is now about 9-1/2 inches long and weighs around 9 ounces. A smooth white layer of verniz caseosa, a natural substance that's like baby's first moisturizer, covers your baby's body to protect the skin while living submerged in its watery home.

Also around this time, he starts converting waste into dark and sticky meconium, a "pre-poop" that will probably test your skills as a baby wiper during your first few diaper changes.

That's all that is happening right now with little Baylor! I can defiantly tell he is growing. His kicks and punches are getting stronger and stronger. He still likes to move around anytime from after midnight til early morning. I'm feeling pretty good at half through this pregnancy. It's been a week since I got sick last and I'm getting more energy. It just doesn't last very long.

I'm hoping my fabrics arrive sometime early next week so a decision can be made on the bedding, glider, and the rest of the decorations. Jonathan and I are heading up to Birmingham next Saturday to take our bed in the guest bedroom up to his parent's house. We also have decided to switch the nursery and office because the walls are longer in the office and the closet is bigger. Once we get the bed to B'ham we have a busy week ahead of painting and moving everything from the office to the other room. Then it's time to start painting the nursery! It seems like we have so much to do,but at least it will make the time go by a little faster.

Our next appointment is a week from this Monday. It is our follow up at UAB. This means we'll be making 2 trips to B'ham in 3 days, but we are thrilled to see our sweet Baylor again!

Anatomy Scan and 5 Month OB appt!!!

Jonathan and I had a great OB appointment today. When we first got there we went back for our big 20 week ultrasound. The ultrasound lasted a little over 20 minutes. We can't believe how big Baylor has gotten! He was pretty calm this morning as the ultrasound tech did all the measurements of his organs and bones. He is measuring 7 inches long and around 11 ozes.

Once we were done with our U/S we meet with Dr. "D". It was a pretty short appointment. He went over my weight. I have officially gained 2 pds. It is my total weight gain this pregnancy. I'm still down about 10 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. I was really expecting them to say I gained like 5-7 pounds bc I feel like my belly is getting bigger. My BP was also a little higher today so I have to keep a close watch on it. Dr. "D" wants me to take my BP at home a few times a week and a few times a day if it runs high. Once it gets to a certian number he wants me to call him.

We go back for our 6th month OB appt on August 11th. We will schedule our 4D ultrasound that day for sometime between 28-31 weeks. We also signed up for our Birthing Class today. It starts on August 25th. It is every Tuesday for 5 weeks from 6-8. Our classes will be at our doctor's office. We are both so excited to started. I just can't believe it's time for that already.

We are also getting ready to finalize our nursery plans. I was suppose to get fabric swatches in tomorrow, but it looks like it will be at the end of the week or beginning of next week before they come in. Once I get them in my hands I will be able to decide on the bedding, paint color, and fabric for our glider. I can't wait to put everything together. I will post some pictures on the fabric's as soon as I make a decision.

Lacy, Michelle, Me, and Court at the Rehearsal Dinner!

Me with the Bride-to-Be at the Luncheon!

All of Court's Bridesmaids minus Sarah

This weekend I was honored to be a part of one of my very good friend's wedding. Courtney and I meet in 6th grade when we both tried and made C-team at Georgia Washington Junior High School. We have been friends ever since. I'm so excited for both her and Turner to start this new exciting journey in their life together!

The weekend started off with a luncheon on Friday, manis/pedis, and ending with the Rehearsal and the Rehearsal Dinner at Bonnie Crest Country Club. Everyone had such a great time. The wedding was a First Baptist Church and everything turned out perfect! The reception was held at Arrowhead Country Club where everyone danced the night away to the band Divine. This was actually the same band Jonathan and I had at our wedding, but they were called Legacy then. They are so much fun! Court and Turner are now on their way, if not already in Jamaica. I hope they have a great honeymoon and I can't wait to hear all about it when they get back.

Now I'm going to post some pictures. Enjoy!

19 Weeks!

Actually I was 19 weeks yesterday! My baby journal says Although your baby still weighs less than a pound, he's getting heavier as fat stores increase. Your baby measures about 6 inches this week. Hair appears, on the head and as eyebrows and eyelashes. Even though they won't make their debut until years from now, the permanent teeth buds are developing under the gums, behind the milk teeth (baby teeth) buds. Also, this week, your baby's brain is assigning specific areas to support each of the five senses.

Brace yourself for even more gymnastics. Beyond kicks and stretches, your baby may flip upside down, twist and roll from side to side. Later in pregnancy, though, these movements won't be so dramatic because there will be less space in the uterus.

I'm 19 weeks I'm feeling pretty good. I'm showing more. I had a lot of people at Courtney and Turner's wedding notice and want to feel my bump. That was a lot of fun having people notice now. I've felt him every night so far moving around and poking out my side sometimes. My energy level seems to be getting higher and my nausea has still decreased a lot. I had a rough morning yesterday, but after I got sick a few times I felt great! I'm pretty sure that is how morning sickness is suppose to be. I hope I continue to feel this good!

Jonathan and I go for our OB appointment on Tuesday morning at 9am. We will be getting our anatomy scan that day. I will post some pictures of our growing boy that evening.

Baby Parts!!!

I felt Baylor from the outside this morning around 3:45! I'm just not sure what I felt?? His head, butt, or something else? My guess is his head because it felt round. I was so happy that my body woke me up to feel it. I was a little shocked at first not knowing what I felt. I had the bulge right under my belly button and to the left. Since it was so early in the morning was I was hesitant about waking Jonathan up, but I wanted him to be able to feel it too, so I did. By the time Jonathan put his hand on my "bump" Baylor had moved to the center of my belly right under my belly button. I guess he was tired of me pressing on him so he tried to get away!

Now I'm looking forward to being able to feel him kick on the outside. I know Jonathan is too! Does anyone want to share with me when they felt their first kick on the outside??

Baby Kicks!!!

This morning around 5:45 I rolled over from my back to my right side and Baylor stared kicking away. He did it several times. I just kind of froze. I was scared if I moved he would stop. It was such an AMAZING feeling. It kind of felt like hard twitches, so I'm pretty sure it's him. I've been feeling random fluttering for weeks now, but now I guess he's big enough I can actually tell it's him.

So that was my great start to this Tuesday. That was until 12:45 at work I was turning the corner in our hallway and slipped on water from our leaking roof and fell on our scale. I have a big goose egg bruise on the inside of my left knee and another one on the outside of my right knee. Then whelps all up my right leg. I called my doctor's office even though I did not fall on my stomach it was a very hard fall on my side. They had me come in and listen to Baylor's heartbeat and heart sounds. All sounded good so I left there and came straight home. Now I can barely move. I'm having to hold on to the walls or anything around me to walk. I'm in a lot of pain. I just hope I'm back to moving around by tomorrow.

I have a busy week ahead so I have no time to be sick or hurt. I'm in a wedding this weekend for my very close friend, Courtney. I'm so excited for her and I can't wait to start all the wedding festivities. I will take lots of pictures over the weekend to share!

The first pitch of the game!

Baylor will be here the next 4th of July!!!

He had so much fun!

Talking to Uncle Jonathan while waiting to get in the bounce house!

Eating his pretzel!

To celebrate the 4th Jonathan and I went to the Biscuits game with Tab, Meribeth, and Riley. The weather was nice. It was hot, but not as bad as it has been lately. It was so much fun to see Riley really enjoying himself. We got him a wristband so he could play in the bounce house, on the slides, and play the baseball games. I got some good pictures of him on the playground and then my good camera died on me. I did bring my little digital camera and got some pictures they aren't the best quality, but I hope you enjoy them.

After the game which the Biscuits loss to the Birmingham Baron's they cut out all the lights in the stadium and put on a fireworks show. Riley really enjoyed watching them. Every time one would go off he would say "boom". We look forward to watching more of the Biscuits game's with Riley, Grayden, and next season Baylor!

18 Weeks!!!

I'm 4 1/2 months pregnant today! My baby journal says the baby has grown to about 5-1/2 inches and weighs around 5-1/2 ounces. If your baby is a boy, his genitals have grown such they they may be visible with an ultrasound; if your baby is a girl, her fully formed fallopian tubes and uterus are now where they should be. Another interesting thing that can be seen on ultrasound: thumb sucking!

Well that little update from our journal is a little behind our schedule since we already now that our precious baby is a BOY and Baylor has already had his picture taken while sucking his thumb! I don't really have a lot of pregnancy updates right now. I've been suffering from nausea again over the last week or so. My "bump" seems to be changing daily (size and/or shape). I guess the last thing or the best is feeling some more random fluttering (at least that's what I think I'm feeling).

I still can't believe that I'm half way done with this pregnancy. Jonathan and I have a lot to get done before Baylor's big arrival!

Daniel Hubbard Vinson!

Daniel Hubbard Vinson!

Baby Hubb!

Our good friends Jeremy and Lauren Vinson welcomed a BEAUTIFUL baby boy, Hubb into the world early yesterday evening. Hubb weighed 9lbs. 11oz! Both Lauren and Hubb are doing great! Jonathan and I are thrilled for them and their families.

I couldn't help, but think what it would be like the day that our sweet Baylor will be born. We can't wait to meet him. We already love him so much and we haven't even met him. I can't even begin to imagine how wonderful of a feeling it will be to holdBaylor in our arms. Only 5 more months from this coming Monday!

UAB Appointment!

I'm sorry I'm a couple days late on blogging about our appt. My mom and I headed up Monday morning and we ended up having a really good appointment. The first thing I had to do was watch a 15 minute presentation about what my appt would be like (procedures, risks, common health defects, etc). When we completed the video we met with one of their genetic counselors. She went back over my blood results and my risk levels based on that. Mine were 1 in 84 and I can't remember exactly what it should've been, but I think somewhere around 1 in 500-1,000. She then went over a few more optional tests, but I declined everything except for the targeted ultrasound. We then were sent back out to wait on the doctor to come get us for the ultrasound. There were 2 doctor's and 1 tech in the ultrasound room with us. The set up was really nice. Those of you who watch baby stories on the Discovery Channel and TLC have seen offices with a big flat screen on the wall to watch the ultrasound from instead of the tiny u/s machine screen. Well, that is what they had! The also had a computer that the doctor watched with the same images during the whole procedure. The tech started with measuring all the organs, bones, and head. Then one of the doctor's came back to take a better look at the head (brain) and heart. Let's just say Baylor was not in the mood for any of this on Monday afternoon. I think it was in the middle of his afternoon nap time. It took a lot of shaking, pressure, and time to finally get the views they wanted to see.

When the doctor was complete she said she did not see any indicators of Down's so my risk went from 1 in 84 to 1 in 160. This number is still very high for my age,but at least it doubled and it's going up. They do want to see us again in 4 weeks to take another look at his heart. I was a little worried about this, but I'm thinking they want to do just in case their are any changes between now and then. To say this appointment was stressful would be an understatement. I didn't realize how nervous I was until the night and morning before. I'm just glad it's almost over.

I got a really good "BOY" shot of him. They also gave us a cute foot shot and face shot. I will post these in a few days when our computer is back and running like it should. It crashed with a virus yesterday afternoon and I'm so thankful Jonathan has it back and running. We just have to re-download every program back to it.

Jonathan and I go back for our next OB appt on July 14th. We are also getting another U/S that day. I'm excited Jonathan will get to see how much he has grown. I was shocked when I saw him on Monday. Then our next appt at UAB is scheduled for July 27th.

I do want to ask that everyone say a little prayer for some very good friends of both Jonathan and I. They will be welcoming their little boy, Daniel "Hubb"ard Vinson later this afternoon. Jonathan and Hubb's daddy have been best friends for years and we are so excited to meet this little guy.
